The second brevet of the year#
I know, I know, for the qualifying part (the Super Randonneur series) I only need to do one 200 Brevet, and I already finished one last month.
The plan, though, is to ride as many Brevets as possible before August. Doing so means:
good training
opportunities for testing stuff (gear, clothing, food, etc)
chances to find myself in problems/issues that may appear during PBP, finding out how to overcome them before PBP
spend more time riding with the fellow randonneurs with whom I’ll spend (hopefully) lots of time during PBP (team building! ;-D)
The next one in the list is another 200, this time organized by my friends from Astorga Randonneurs, and taking place in Castilla y León.
In their website you can find all kind of details about this Brevet (route, map, elevation, gpx).
The route leaves Astorga and goes for near 215 km on secondary roads passing small villages and towns, the bigger village of Villablino, the Babia Biosphere Reserve (with some interesting wild life, like bears) or the dam of Barrios de Luna, just to mention a few interesting places.
On paper, it definetely looks like a lovely route. With a total elevation gain of 2000 meters it does not seem like a hard one, but looking at the profile chart…

It seems we will have 4 interesting climbs, with a higher point near 1500 m, followed by a long and easier come back to Astorga.
Last year I did a couple of Brevets (200 and 300) in Astorga, but none of them share parts of the route with this one, so it will be the first time for me on these roads.
Can’t wait for Saturday to arrive.
