The qualifying starts with bad weather#
The first 200 Brevet in my calendar will take place next Saturday, 25th of February, 2023 - that is, in 3 days from now - and damn, the weather forecast/prognosis looks awful.
We have had a hard autumn, with lots of rain, followed by a hard winter with even more rain and temperatures colder than what we are used to in recent years.
After all that, the last 2 weeks had been like an early spring. Mild temperatures and winter sunny days, simply perfect for a long day on the saddle.
Starting today, temperatures went down again and the rain is back. Forecast says we should expect a wave of cold, polar winds from the north with lots of rain and humidity. Snow is expected near 500m over sea level (here in Lugo - where I live - we are around 440m).
Fun, isn’t it?
I’ve waited until the last moment to sign up for this first 200 Brevet (I’ve just signed up a few minutes ago).
I know there will be more options for riding 200 Brevets, but somehow it did not feel good to skip one, considering something unexpected can happen in the future that may force me to skip one of the other 200s (sickness, family trouble, etc).
Let’s hope the weather won’t be as bad as they say it will…
